Hi! My name is Celine, and I am an esthetician and natural skincare enthusiast.
I first learned about soap-making in 2014 as a new mom with a strong need for a creative outlet. I ferociously learned everything that was out there about soap making, but it wasn't until I took an in-person class with Kenna of Modern Soapmaking on soap-making formulations that it really clicked. From that point on, I was able to formulate my own soap recipes with confidence and ease.
Around the same time, we noticed that my son had sensitive skin and eczema. So, it became my mission to formulate gentle soaps and skincare products to help his skin.
I’ve always been a crafter and loved to figure out and create stuff. So, before I knew it, I was making all sorts of things: body butter, goat milk soap, lip balms, bath bombs, you name it! And my son’s eczema? – Well, that slowly got better as well.
A little bit more about me
- I was born and raised in Germany. Since my mom is from France, I grew up bilingual.
- Both my parents are only children. I sometimes joke that I must have the smallest family on the planet (no aunts, uncles, or cousins!)
- I met my husband on a backpacking trip through New Zealand almost 20 years ago. After four years of long-distance love, he finally convinced me to move to the U.S.
- I'm a physical therapist by trade and have trained to be a massage therapist, esthetician, and yoga teacher as well 🤓 These modalities have given me a deeper understanding of the human body and our skin as it relates to our environment.
- I like to garden and grow food. One of my favorite activities is weeding, I find it quite relaxing 🤣
- I had extreme morning sickness for the better part of my three pregnancies 🤢 - no fun!
- I can drink coffee at any temperature, never mind lukewarm or cold ☕ caffeine is caffeine, right?
I’m so glad you found my little corner of the digital universe. Drop me a comment below and let me know what you’d like to read about in future posts.
You can follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
Until next time. Happy Tinkering!

Hi there Celine, noticed in a couple if your soap recipes no temperatures are given for lye or oils before mixing.

Hi Jo, yes as I have become more experienced I've found that letting lye and oils cool just above room temperature works for me. I usually touch the outside of the pot to see if it has cooled enough. I've never had a bad experience with false trace that way. I hope that helps. Bests, Celine
