How to make pink chocolate covered pretzels
Step 1: Melt the chocolate
The trick to melting candy melts, chocolate chips or baking chocolate is to keep a close eye on them and stir often. You DON'T want to burn them.
If you're using chocolate chips or baking chocolate, add 1-2 teaspoon of vegetable shortening to make the consistency thinner and easier to work with.
You can melt your candy in the microwave or with a double boiler.
(If you don’t have a double boiler or microwave, you can create a water bath by using a heat proof bowl on top of a saucepan with a couple of inches of water in it. This is a little tricky since the bowl has to be bigger than the pot. This ensures no water or steam can get into the candy otherwise the candy will seize up be unusable.)
When melting candy melts or chocolate in the microwave melt for 20-seconds and then remove and stir. Return candy to microwave and repeat, stirring each time in between until the melts are smooth and creamy.
Even if it looks like your candy melts or chocolate chips aren’t melting, they are. Remove the bowl from microwave before they're completely melted and stir.
Step 2: Dip Pretzels
Dip each pretzel in the chocolate about ¾ of the way. You can also use a spoon an completely cover them. Using a spoon is also helpful if using pretzel rods.
Gently shake of or tap on side of the bowl to remove any excess.
Step 3: Decorate pretzels
Place pretzels on wax or parchment paper to dry. Don't use aluminum foil, they will stick to it.
Decorate with your favorite sprinkles (my kids love to do that it's their favorite part). You can also drizzle some chocolate of a different color on top using a spoon or frosting bag.
Step 4: Let pretzels harden
Let pretzels harden at room temperature for about 1 hour. You can also place them in the fridge if you're in a hurry.
Step 5: Packaging and storing
Package these beautiful valentine's treats in little cany bags with a pretty ribbon and handmade tag. Or store them in an airtight container for up to 14 days.
If you're layering them inside a container, make sure to use parchment paper in between each layer to keep them from sticking.

14 days. You can make them ahead of time, but keep in mind that they will have to be eaten right away after that time period - which shouldn't be a problem 😉
Your room temperature might be to warm, try sticking them in the fridge for 10 minutes. Chocolate chips harden slower than candy melts.
After drying immediately package chocolate covered pretzels in plastic treat bags and seal tightly or place in an airtight container. If storing in layers place sheet of parchment paper between each layer to prevent sticking.
