Get ready for patriotic holidays with these red, white, and blue Rice Krispie treats! They're the perfect no-bake dessert that kids of all ages will love.
With Memorial Day behind us and Independence Day approaching, it's time to gear up for summer holidays. As the school year wraps up, we're looking forward to days at the pool, evenings catching fireflies, and hopefully a bit of extra sleep (fingers crossed!).
While we've made rice crispy treats before, this time, we decided to give these classic treats a festive twist. Our patriotic dessert was a hit at our neighbour's backyard barbecue, and these delicious treats were a crowd-pleaser and the perfect addition.
I love making simple, no-bake treats, especially during the summer. Patriotic chocolate bark, chocolate-covered Oreos, or frozen lemonade pie are all wonderful options, and the best part is that you won't have to heat up your house even more by using the oven!

How to Make 4th of July Rice Krispies Treats
- Prepare the base: Melt the butter in a large sauce pan over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows to melted butter and stir until fully melted and smooth.
- Remove the pot from heat and immediately mix in the Rice Krispies cereal until well coated.
- Press the cereal mixture firmly into a 9x13-inch baking pan lined with a piece of parchment paper or lightly greased with cooking spray. Flatten it evenly across the pan.
- Let the Rice Krispie treat cool and set in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
- Cutting the treats: Once set, lift the whole treat out of the pan using the edges of the parchment paper. Place it on a cutting board and cut into squares or rectangles with a sharp knife. You can also use a cookie cutter for fun shapes.
- Melting the candy melts: Separately melt the red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring for 10 seconds after each.
- Fill melted candy melt into a piping bag and cut off just the tip
- Drizzle across the top of the treat bars
- Repeat steps 6-8 with the other two colors, finishing up with the blue layer
- Decorate: While the candy coating is still wet, sprinkle with patriotic sprinkles for a decorative touch.
- Cooling: Allow the treats to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving
