My go-to treat to bring to every summer holiday BBQ! This marbled chocolate bark is irresistibly chocolatey, delightfully crunchy, and oh-so festive.
I've made this chocolate bark red, white, and blue themed, and it's the perfect finger food for summer barbecues. But you can switch up the colors and make it Christmas or Valentine-themed as well.
If you've hung around here for a while, then you know I'm a huge chocoholic. No Oreo or pretzel is safe from being slathered in sweet, decadent, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate. So why not make a dessert that's just that? Pure chocolate bliss.
Ingredients
As you might have guessed, the ingredients for this are straightforward: pretty much all chocolate with some choice toppings. You can find these in the baking aisle of most big supermarkets, craft stores often carry candy melts as well.
- 2 cups white chocolate morsels - I like to stick with high-quality chocolate for the richest flavor
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate morsels - you could substitute for dark chocolate; same as with the white chocolate, go with a good quality brand for the best flavor
- ½ cup red candy melts - these aren't real chocolate but are way easier to melt and swirl
- ½ cup white candy melts
- ½ cup blue candy melts
- red, white, and blue star sprinkles - regular sprinkles are fun as well
- red, white, and blue M&Ms - you can use small pretzels instead
Instructions
- Prepare the Tray: Line a 9x13 baking tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Layer the Chocolates: Begin by melting the semi-sweet chocolate morsels. You can do this in a water bath or microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.
- Pour the melted semi-sweet chocolate onto the prepared tray, spreading it into an even layer.
- Allow this layer to harden completely. You can speed up this process by placing the tray in the refrigerator.
- Add the White Chocolate Layer: Melt the white chocolate morsels using the same method as before. Once melted, pour it over the hardened semi-sweet chocolate layer.
- Let this white chocolate layer completely harden in the fridge before proceeding.
- Add the Candy Melts: Melt each color separately. You can use small piping bags or a spoon to drizzle each color over the hardened white chocolate layer.
- Swirl: drag a toothpick gently back and forth through the colors. Work swiftly while chocolate melts are still fluid.
- Decorate: Add sprinkles and M&Ms on the top while the candy melts are still soft. Gently push them a toothpick if necessary.
- Final Hardening: Allow the entire tray to harden completely
- Break into Pieces: Once fully set, lift the bark out of the tray using the edges of the parchment paper and break it into pieces by hand.
Hint: If you're serving the chocolate bark on a hot summer day, it's best to keep it in the fridge until it is close to serving time.
Storage
Store chocolate bark in an airtight container for up to 3 weeks at room temperature or in the fridge for up to a month. It can also be frozen for up to 6 months if tightly wrapped in plastic.
